〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Kristoff Bjorgman
CHARACTER AGE: 21
SERIES: Frozen
CHRONOLOGY: After Elsa thaws Arendelle, before the epilogue scenes
CLASS: Bystander with occasional fits of heroism
HOUSING: Stick 'im anywhere

BACKGROUND:
Frozen @ Wikipedia

Kristoff (with Sven) first appears as a child hanging out with a bunch of ice harvesters, apparently in the first stages of learning his trade. None of these men are his father, however, as he's later seen alone in the woods. Following a frightened Elsa's trail of ice, he inadvertently ends up in the Valley of the Living Rock, where a troll woman (Bulda) decides to keep him (and Sven) on account of his being a cutie. After that, he presumably spends the next thirteen years of his life being some kind of mountain-hobo-kid, managing to actually go into business selling ice at some point before Elsa's coronation.

Post-coronation, with his ice of no value in Elsa's sudden winter, he runs into Princess Anna and is convinced to take her up the mountain to try and find the queen. Along the way, he has character development and ultimately falls for the heroine, because you never know when you might need a backup potential love interest. In the end, his concern for Anna's well-being prompts him to brave a literal storm in order to try and assure her safety. It doesn't quite work out, but Anna's sacrifice for her sister ultimately saves her own life and the kingdom. After some revelations about love, Arendelle is un-frozen and sunshine-y happiness seems to be restored. Then there's ice-skating. Roll credits.

PERSONALITY:
Kristoff's kind of a weird guy. Like, there's a whole song about how weird he is. In a story that essentially stars a bunch of lonesome people, he plays the role of a (supposedly) contented isolationist. A hard-working, practical mountain man, Kristoff was raised outside of humanity and prefers the quiet of nature over the chatter of crowds. Aside from his family of literal trolls, his only companion is his reindeer, Sven. When he's first introduced to the story, he comes off as something of a misanthrope. He calls a shopkeeper a crook to his face and (after being thrown out of said shop) has a short musical number about how reindeer are better than people, who are prone beating, cursing, and cheating others. When he agrees to take Anna up the North Mountain, it's due to business reasons. She buys him the supplies that he needs and offers a way to end the surprise winter, which is adversely affecting his ice-selling business.

Over the course of their journey, the friendly company of another human being causes Kristoff to reveal the pieces of himself that he tends to conceal around others. Under that layer of standoffishness and general discontent lies the gooey center of a mushy, sensitive, do-gooder. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Kristoff's largely just a decent fella who let his inability to communicate effectively with other humans wear him down. While he's honest, diligent, and full of emotion, he's not somebody who'll shout these qualities from the mountaintops. Whatever negative experiences he's had, he seems largely under the belief that it's better to keep up a tough guy persona around people. He's not a very tough nut to crack, however. All it takes to get him to start opening up is somebody almost as awkward and a lot more extraverted than he is. He finds this in Anna, and his motivations in guiding her through the snowy wilderness turn from being business-related to being personal, especially as he starts to develop romantic feelings towards her. Ultimately, the better parts of his nature lead to his committing what Olaf the Snowman defines as an act of love by returning Anna to Arendelle and to Hans, despite his own feelings. This same concern also prompts him to return to Arendelle when a large blizzard kicks up out of nowhere, wanting again to assure Anna's safety. Granted, he doesn't actually accomplish much, but the shift in his values is important, and he can't ignore that.

While all of this leads to his re-thinking his philosophy when it comes to the nature of humanity, Kristoff is still largely an introvert. He's just a little more focused on moving forward where other people are concerned, trying to balance his old ways and incoming new feelings and information.

POWER:
Only Sven is canon. And he's not really a power, he's a reindeer.

Investment Super-ness - Kristoff gains strength and durability dependent on his emotional investment in what he's doing. If he's apathetic, he's got regular ol' big-dude strength. If he's really concerned and super-wants to accomplish whatever he's doing, he can flip cars and take bullets without major damage.

Ropes Forever - Kristoff can pull ropes out from his sleeves. They'll vary in material and length at random, and can't be drawn from anywhere else.

Sven - Again, not a power, but an awesome animal companion.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:
You know, there's a lot about this place that I still don't get, and... I don't know. It just all seems really dramatic sometimes? I mean, I'm not putting down the bad things that happen to people here now and again. That just makes everything worse, but--

I don't understand politics. I think that's it. There's always so much happening here, and it almost always circles back to politics, and I guess that just seems too complicated to me. There's these elections, and things happening to people's minds, and these groups on either side of us, and... I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd rather stay out of it.

It's hurting people, though. That's the thing.

I never registered, and I still don't think that's what helps, but... At the same time, I don't know what to do. Leaving well enough alone feels really selfish, sometimes. All I've been doing is looking out for me and the people I care about. I barely even think about anybody else, and then... Well, I feel bad when I do. And I should feel bad, right?

So what do you do to help when you're this clueless? Genuine question.

LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE:
This place would never cease to be strange. For all that Kristoff had learned, he was still horrendously behind in some aspects. He had yet to master public transportation or the grocery store, for example, and he avoided cars altogether to the best of his ability. He'd never properly obtained a bank account, and he was still sub-literate at best, which was far less common here than it was back in his own world. All of this, however, did not mean that he wasn't capable. He'd been determined to keep that a fact since his arrival.

The thing of it was, currently, that he'd been only passably capable. He'd remained in the house provided for him and had kept only simple jobs. He finally woken up one morning, taken stock of everything that he'd gained here (savings and people-wise), and determined that he'd have to change a thing or two. It wouldn't have to be too much, not all at once, but it ought to be something.

He started by picking up a newspaper while he was one, and one of those pamphlets filled with pictures of houses. Flipping through them once he had a moment to sit down, he realized that he'd have to have more help in this. He first considered Anna and Elsa, but... For certain reasons, he decided against that. They may not know better than him, and surprising Anna with some accomplishment would likely be far better than burdening her with accomplishing it herself. Maybe Karen or John, then...

He'd paused on a page of largely run-down looking buildings, barns and sheds abandoned as a more consistently urban style of living had creeped into this world. They were relatively affordable, and the work on many seemed perfectly doable, at first glance. He'd have to check the areas surround the other imPort cities, as well, and he'd have to fish opinions carefully from Arendelle's princess. This was good, though. It was a plan.

There came a mechanical-sounding song from one of his pockets. Another thing he'd learned along the way was to the trick to setting alarms, and that was the song that meant it was time for him to head to work. Flipping the little book closed and setting his newly-obtained materials aside, he rose to fetch his boots.

Hard work, but perfectly possible, and wasn't that the best way to do things?

FINAL NOTES: I'm re-apping after an activity hiccup. Kristoff will retain his memories of this world while I attempt to not mis-count comments again.
