〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Kristoff Bjorgman
CHARACTER AGE: 21
SERIES: Disney's Frozen
CHRONOLOGY: After he returns Anna to Arendelle
CLASS: Reluctant Hero, by the large. He tends to avoid people and will grumble and grouse, but he'll do the right thing without much hesitation.
HOUSING: Randomize me, Captain.
BACKGROUND:
Frozen @ Wikipedia
Kristoff (with Sven) first appears as a child hanging out with a bunch of ice harvesters, apparently in the first stages of learning his trade. None of these men is his father, however, as he's later seen alone in the woods. Following a frightened Elsa's trail of ice, he inadvertently ends up in the Valley of the Living Rock, where a troll woman (Bulda) decides to keep him (and Sven) on account of he's adorable. After that, he presumably spends the next thirteen years of his life being some kind of mountain-hobo-kid, managing to actually go into business selling ice at some point before Elsa's coronation.
Post-coronation, with his ice of no value in a sudden winter, he runs into Princess Anna and is convinced to take her up the mountain to try and find the queen. Along the way, he has character development and ultimately falls for the heroine, because you never know when you might need a backup potential love interest. In the end, he attempts to be heroic or something, but it turns out his heroism wasn't all that necessary. But it's the thought that counts, right?
PERSONALITY:
Kristoff's kind of a weird guy. Like, there's a whole song about how weird he is. In a story that essentially stars a bunch of lonesome people, he plays the role of a (supposedly) contented isolationist. A hard-working, practical mountain man, Kristoff was raised outside of humanity and prefers the quiet of nature over the chatter of crowds. Aside from his family of literal trolls, his only companion is his reindeer, Sven. When he's first introduced to the story, he comes off as something of a misanthrope. He calls a shopkeeper a crook to his face and (after being thrown out of said shop) has a short musical number about how reindeer are better than people, who are prone beating, cursing, and cheating others. When he agrees to take Anna up the North Mountain, it's due to business reasons. She buys him the supplies that he needs and offers a way to end the surprise winter, which is adversely affecting his ice-selling business.
Over the course of their journey, the friendly company of another human being causes Kristoff to reveal the pieces of himself that he tends to conceal around others. Under that layer of standoffishness and general discontent lies the gooey center of a mushy, sensitive, do-gooder. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Kristoff's largely just a decent fella who let his inability to communicate effectively with other humans wear him down. While he's honest, diligent, and full of emotion, he's not somebody who'll shout these qualities from the mountaintops. Whatever negative experiences he's had, he seems largely under the belief that it's better to keep up a tough guy persona around people. He's not a very tough nut to crack, however. All it takes to get him to start opening up is somebody almost as awkward and a lot more extraverted than he is. He finds this in Anna, and his motivations in guiding her through the snowy wilderness turn from being business-related to being personal, especially as he starts to develop romantic feelings towards her. Ultimately, the better parts of his nature lead to his committing what Olaf the Snowman defines as an act of love by returning Anna to Arendelle and to Hans, despite his own feelings.
It's with this mindset that Kristoff will find himself in another world, wedged oddly between having done the right thing and almost wishing he could've found some other way around it. While he's still an introvert, still sees himself as largely separated from other people, he has started growing in a new direction. Or at least he's been shown that he can grow, if he really wants to.
tl;dr His isolation is confirmation of his desperation for healing hugs.
POWER:
Both are non-canon!
Zoolingualism - The power to speak to and understand animals, basically! Specifically, he'll be able to accurately interpret their noises and body language while they'll be able to understand what he says when he speaks to them in much the same manner, using his own language and expressions. (As opposed to his having to mimic animal noises in order to speak to them.) Just casual conversations with the fauna nbd.
Ropes Forever - Kristoff can pull ropes out from his sleeves. They'll vary in material and length at random, and can't be drawn from anywhere else.
〈 CHARACTER SAMPLES 〉
COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:
[ Kristoff stands in his house's kitchen, leaned against the counter beside the fridge and regarding the device that he's holding (and therefore the audience behind it) both skeptically and sourly. ]
Okay. I've got a bone to pick with someone. I don't know who, so I'm just going to put it out there.
[ Reaching across himself, he jerks the door of the freezer open and frowns so hard at the camera. ] Everything in there is frozen through. Whose bright idea was this? Did you know that this is going to put people out of their jobs? What'd we ever do to you? Seriously.
[ He frowns for another moment before rolling his eyes and shutting the freezer again. His expression flickers to one of confusion, as... He's not sure about getting answers, here, or about how to end this whole thing. Oh but wait..! One more thing! ]
And these. [ He presents a bag reading "Baby Carrots" to the camera, perfectly straight-faced about the whole thing. ] That's not how carrots work. They're vegetables. They grow in the ground.
[ Your place is weird. That's it. Kristoff, out. ]
LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE: Test Drive. Woooo.
